FSV Continua Tintable product is now qualified and production has started.
5-17-10: Coating Area
Eight molding presses are now in operation. Coating Engineers and Quality Specialists from Ramsey, MN arrived in Jakarta to work with the Jakarta team to fine-tune the coating process. The new coating area is a class 100 facility. Qualification for the first product style is expected to be completed by week’s end.
5-10-10: Poly presses installed, first lenses produced
The polycarbonate molding team successfully installed the presses and have racked more than 2,000 lenses as of last week. Vision-Ease Lens CEO, Doug Hepper, was on site to witness first-hand the recent successes. A second team of engineers from Ramsey, MN will be flying into Jakarta this week to help setup coating operations.
5-3-10: Ramsey, MN engineers on site
Factory machine Reps are on site for the commissioning of the first 10 presses. Molding engineers from Ramsey, MN arrived on site May 1st to perform the necessary upgrades to the presses, ensuring they conform to Vision-Ease Lens specs.
They will be working closely with the Jakarta team over the next week on a rigorous training agenda put in place to ensure that Jakarta personnel are familiar with preventive maintenance schedules for the new presses.
4-26-10: Jakarta Begins Glass Bifocal Production
The rebuild of the Jakarta factory continues to make excellent progress and is on schedule. Two weeks ago, they achieved an important milestone. The first fused glass bifocal lenses were successfully produced in the new glass manufacturing area at Jakarta.
Work on the poly production area also is making excellent progress. The first ten presses are now in place in the new clean room. Other equipment such as the lens washing system has also been placed in the clean room area. While there is still a lot to do, the progress is excellent. The new factory is very impressive – a true showplace!
