Vision-Ease Lens Volunteers with Twin Cities Habitat for Humanity

RAMSEY, MINN. (Oct. 7, 2011) – For the third year in a row, employees at Vision-Ease Lens (VEL), a leading manufacturer of ophthalmic lenses based in Ramsey, Minn., volunteered their time and talent to build a home with the Twin Cities chapter of Habitat for Humanity. During the last week of September, 60 VEL employees spent time siding, sheathing and roof decking a home in nearby Fridley, Minn., working with the family who will move into the home at the end of the year.

“Helping our local communities is something Vision-Ease Lens and its employees hold as a priority, and we feel Habitat for Humanity is an organization which holds a standard of providing for those in need,” said John Oyen, director of human resources, VEL. “Our employees have worked hard over the years, and we will continue to support their efforts in giving back to our communities.”

Besides hands-on work, VEL made monetary donations, and provided food and refreshments for those assisting with the project throughout the week. Vision-Ease Lens supports other charitable organizations throughout the year, including Toys for Tots and the United Way.
